Congratulations to Loretta and Paul for representing Milam Plumbing and the plumbing trade at the Professional Women in Builders (PWB) event in September 2024! Their presence at this important event highlighted their commitment to the trade and their support for encouraging the next generation of skilled workers.
The PWB, part of the Wilmington Cape Fear Home Builders Association (HBA), was honored to host an educational day in collaboration with the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce’s Career and Leadership Development Academy (CLDA). This event provided a unique opportunity for 40 seventh graders to visit a residential construction site in Castle Hayne and explore various trades that play a vital role in home building.
Throughout the day, students were divided into four groups, rotating through four key construction zones: Plumbing, Electrical, Building, and Other Services (such as roofing, fixtures, and interior design). In each zone, PWB and HBA members shared their personal experiences and insights, offering an inspiring look into the opportunities available in the construction industry.
Loretta and Paul took the lead in the plumbing zone, educating students on the vital role of plumbing in residential construction and showing firsthand the skills and dedication involved. Their involvement not only raised awareness about the importance of the plumbing trade but also sparked curiosity and excitement among the young attendees.
